Around here, we like to think of every day as Earth Day! But since April 22nd is the big day, we wanted to provide you with some tips and resources to help celebrate.
– Check out great roundups of Earth Day events right here in Philadelphia from Uwishunu and our good friends at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. And if that wasn’t enough, we know this event from Penn’s Institute for Urban Research will prove to be informative and worthwhile.
– Recycle Recycle Recycle! Keep America Beautiful’s I Want to be Recycled campaign helps us recycle often and recycle right!
– Here’s how to be up to date on the proper way to recycle and dispose of your trash in Philly – and follow the Streets Department on twitter and Facebook for up to date information, too! (And remember, don’t throw those plastic bags in your blue bin! You can take them to stores throughout the City for special recycling.)
– Follow our friends at Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia on twitter for DIY home improvement / weatherization tips.
Last, we invite you to join the Streets Department, Recyclebank and us from 12:00n to 4:00pm tomorrow (4/22) at 57th and Baltimore for some Earth Day fun – cleanup, recycling education and blue bin distribution, and more!
We wish you all a Very Happy Earth Day!
