A personal note from our Director, Michelle Feldman

Hello from Union Station in Washington, D.C.!

I am heading back to Philly, but before I catch my train (and while I catch my breath) I wanted to pass along a few thoughts from this year’s national Keep America Beautiful (KAB) conference.

This is only my second year as part of the Keep America Beautiful network, and I am continuously amazed by the warmth, humility, and drive of the national KAB staff and the local affiliates (over 600 strong now). Every year, KAB affiliates engage millions of volunteers, educate millions of students on the importance of environmental stewardship, and clear our streets and highways of millions of pounds of debris. It’s inspiring. On a personal note, the national Keep America Beautiful staff has gone out of their way to make me feel welcome, supported, and a part of the Keep America Beautiful family, and for that I am truly grateful.

I also leave D.C. confident that 2015 will be a banner year for Keep America Beautiful. Stay tuned for more information about the next phase of the I Want to be Recycled campaign, and a national research project on the economic impacts of blight. Keep America Beautiful is determined to tackle the big issues as we work to build and sustain vibrant communities, and all of us at the Philadelphia affiliate are so proud to be a part of the KAB team.

If you want to get involved on a local level (and we hope that you do!), you can reach out either by emailing me at michelle@keepphiladelphiabeautiful.org, or giving our offices a call at 215-854-4000.

Yours in Service,

Michelle
