Love the Waterfront? Yeah, we do too.

That’s why we’re so pleased to announce that we’ve partnered with the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation on a cigarette litter prevention initiative. Together, we’ve installed thirty new cigarette trash receptacles along the Waterfront, and will be embarking on outreach and education focused on the environmental damage caused by cigarette litter.

This project is part of a larger Keep America Beautiful program focused on tackling the problem of cigarette litter across the country (which you can read more about here). Cigarette butts are the most littered item both in the U.S. and across the globe, and not only harm our land and waterways, but cost us money, too. Funds that could be spent on parks, schools, or other public goods end up going towards cleanup costs.

With so much buzz and energy surrounding the Waterfront, it has never been a more important time to help keep it beautiful. So, go visit the Waterfront because it’s gorgeous. And while you’re there, be on the lookout for the new cigarette litter receptacles, and encourage folks to use them.
