Happy Park(ing) Day!

This past Friday, Keep Philadelphia Beautiful teamed up with our friends at Recyclebank and the Streets Department to participate in Park(ing) Day, a Citywide event where about 40 organizations turned parking spots throughout the City in to mini-parks.

Our parklet, at 19th and Sansom in the heart of Center City, focused on recycling. We spoke to fellow concerned Philadelphians all day about the importance of recycling, and what can and cannot be put in to your blue recycling bin (see the most up to date list of what Philadelphia residents can and cannot recycle here).

We loved being a part of Park(ing) Day, and dreaming big about how public spaces can foster community. We can’t wait to do it again next year!
