In April 2018, we launched our fourth annual round of seed funding to support neighborhood-based anti-litter projects. Thanks to our friends at Keep America Beautiful, we’re able to provide more funding than ever towards installing new cigarette litter receptacles throughout the city in collaboration with seven great civic organizations.

Did you know cigarette butts are the most littered item in the country?

#ProTip: see below to read about each of these civic superheroes we’re proud to call friends and partners.

This program is in partnership with the City of Philadelphia’s Zero Waste + Litter Cabinet. Head to CleanPHL.org to read about the City’s bold Zero Waste goal, check out your block’s litter index score, and sign up for updates.

The North Broad Renaissance: Northbroad

North Broad Renaissance will enhance their successful commerical corridor cleaning efforts by placing cigarette litter receptacles along Broad and Venango, Broad and Erie, and Broad and Westmoreland.

Tioga United

Tioga United will place 24 new cigarette litter receptalces along the 17th Street commercial corridor, and in doing so leverage existing partnerships with the business community, Gaudenzia House, and Cristo Rey High School.

South of South Neighborhood Association: SOSNA

South of South Neighbors Association will partner with the members of their Clean Block Rep program to identify key cigarette litter hot-spots and work to install 20 new receptacles at those locations in their service area.

Olde Richmond Civic Association

Old Richmond Civic Association will partner with local businesses to install eleven new receptacles, to build upon their successful community-sponsored trash can initiative and to launch a new online and in-person messaging campaign to raise awareness about the various impacts of cigarette litter.
